When did it happen?
Why did it become so difficult to maintain my weight?
What's wrong with me?
How do I fix it?
So what are my symptoms exactly?
- Bloating: verb- to make or become swollen with fluid or gas. Some bloating is normal, especially if you are all about that carb life (can I get an amen?!) But what happens if you are on the Keto Diet and still experiencing bloating after every little thing you eat? I don't know. That's why I'm asking you. That is a day in the life of Bethany. Bloating after everything and it HURTS! It hurts so much at times I think I could get sick. Folks, that's not normal.
- Headaches: the symptom of pain anywhere in the head or neck region. I've been suffering from headaches for a very long time. At first I just dealt with it, because I'm stubborn like that. Then about 2 years ago, while at the gym, I had someone use this doo-hickey on my neck and back that told me I needed to see a Chiropractor. I can honestly say that was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Not long did it reduce the number of headaches I was getting, it as provided much needed relief in my lower back! But I still get headaches more often than you should. Is it from a lack of water? Yeah, probably. From sugar withdrawal? Also probably a yes. From something else? Maybe.
- Sweet Tooth: noun- great liking of sweet-tasting foods. If you believe you are a sugar addict, please stand up *stands up with both hands raised* I. LOVE. SUGAR. No question about it. The hardest part about the Keto Diet is not giving up almost all the carbs, but giving up sugar. But you know, I do it. I know how important it is to give it up, but I still craved it. It's really bad after eating something salty. My body just screams for something sweet as a counter balance. Sigh. This is my life in a nutshell. Lots of internal screaming.
- Weight Loss (or a lack thereof): I've been seeing a personal trainer for a year. We do kick ass workouts and she has me weigh in once a month. We talk about what I should be eating and how much. I did lose weight. For a time. Then I started gaining weight. Now some of you may say, "But Bethany, did you ever think you were just gaining muscle? Did does weigh more than fat!" I know it's not all muscle. Doing a Body Comp showed us this much. It's very frustrating and discouraging when you know you are doing all of the right things but not seeing results.
- Thyroid Issues: it's estimated that 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease. It's important to note that I have never actually seen the doctor to confirm or deny that I have a Thyroid issue. My personal trainer and I feel that I likely do for a few reasons. 1) I'm not losing weight like I should be. 2) I overheat way too easily. 3) Always cold. 4) Dry skin. 5) Fatigue. And the list goes on.
- No Energy: Super tired all the time no matter how much sleep I get. I don't have the drive to do anything but sit around and sleep.
- Depression: According to the World Health Organization, 350 million people worldwide suffer from depression. So many insecurities. I'm not use to that. I never hated the way I looked. Never hated the way I felt. Now I do. I barely fit into my jeans and work pants, I avoid a formfitting things like the plague. I feel (and look) like I'm pregnant. To be honest, I keep waiting for someone to ask. I'm at rock bottom and I hate it.
- Not Regular: This is a weird one to talk about. Not just something you share with strangers you know? *shoulder shrug* I've never really thought about my poop schedule until recently. Sometimes I don't poop at all. Other times, it's like all hell breaks loose and very rarely is it solid. It's gross and it stinks. There's your TMI for the day. You're welcome.
I'm at a loss as to how to help relieve any of my symptoms. I don't know what else to do or where to turn. I need answers!
So this is the goal of my blog, to explore the cause of my symptoms and to relieve them if at all possible.
Let's get started
